IOP’s action plan for higher education reform on island of Ireland
17 March 2021
A fantastic response from the physics community helped to shape the IOP’s submission to a wide-reaching Royal Irish Academy consultation.
Views from across the physics community have helped the IOP to formulate 10 priority actions to try to shape the future direction of higher education on the island of Ireland.
The wide-ranging actions, in areas such as increasing the diversity of people entering HE and safeguarding cross-border collaborations, are included in the IOP’s response to the Royal Irish Academy’s (RIA) Higher Education Futures Taskforce consultation.
In February, the RIA issued a Call for Input to help identify how the HE system across Ireland and Northern Ireland should evolve to meet changing societal needs and challenges, regionally, nationally and internationally.
The IOP, as the professional body and learned society for physics in the UK and Ireland, invited the physics community to submit their views to help inform the IOP’s contribution to the consultation.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the final IOP submission. Read the full IOP submission (PDF, 1.92MB).
