APP of the Day contest
In place of the cancelled annual IOP APP/HEPP/NP conference (organised by the IOP Astroparticle Physics Group, the High Energy Particle Physics Group and the Nuclear Physics Group) we wanted to showcase the great work that astroparticle physics students have been doing through an online ‘APP of the Day contest’.
We know that this conference was an opportunity to show the world the important science students have been working on, and we didn’t want to miss out!
Congratulations to the joint winners of our APP of the Day contest Elizabeth Leason and Kareem Farrag.
- Elizabeth Leason, a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, introduced us to the theory of mirror dark matter, which she and her collaborators can search for in the LUX and LZ experiments.
- Kareem Farrag, a PhD student at Queen Mary and Southampton, made a beautiful video showing the impact sterile neutrinos might have on astrophysical neutrinos at IceCube Neutrino Observatory as they travel across the cosmos.
