Do Try This at Home: help spread the word
Do Try This at Home (DTTAH) is a new series of physics activities and demonstration videos that we are creating to support parents and carers of primary school-age children across the UK and Ireland.
We want to use our expertise to provide them with simple, fun, trustworthy resources with which to inspire and educate their children while schools are closed – without having to leave home.
Our team of expert IOP science communicators will be filming demonstrations in their kitchens and living rooms over the coming weeks, using basic household materials. Find out more and watch the videos.
We need YOU!
We are asking all IOP members to help us reach as many parents as possible. We believe that one of the most effective ways we can do this is by harnessing our collective social networks.
Together, we know a lot of parents of younger children – and at a time like this, recommendations from trusted friends count for a lot.
How you can help
We believe the best way to reach parents and carers is via Facebook and you can help us spread the world by sharing the details with your network. If you have a Facebook profile please follow IOP and look out for our posts on DTTAH. Please share and like so that we can spread the word on this great project and support families with children at home during COVID-19.
And if you use Twitter here’s a sample Tweet that you are welcome to use:
‘Looking for ways to educate the kids during #lockdown? IOP's ‘Do Try This at Home’ is a new series of fun physics videos that you can recreate for the family at home. Follow @Physicsnews who will be releasing new videos until schools reopen: iop.org/athome #IOPatHome’
If you use other networks like Instagram, please consider sharing there also by promoting our web address iop.org/athome – and if you don’t use social media, there’s always good old-fashioned email.
Thank you! Let’s see how many children we can inspire with physics…
