Benevolent Fund

The Benevolent Fund provides financial help to IOP members, or their dependants, facing a critical need that cannot otherwise be met.

The Fund provides help for situations such as:

  • unemployment
  • sickness
  • financial hardship in old age
  • a career break

The Benevolent Fund and Covid-19

If you’ve been financially impacted by COVID-19, the Fund may be able to offer assistance. For example, if your normal income has been significantly reduced the Fund may be able to provide a loan or grant to help with day-to-day expenses. Other help could include support to cover carer’s expenses if you or a family member has been badly affected.

Professor Julian Jones OBE, Chair of the Benevolent Fund, comments:

“The Benevolent Fund is here to help members of the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine at unexpected times of need. Please get in touch with us to begin a conversation – we are open and willing to discuss ways of helping you or your loved ones. All applications are treated in the strictest confidence.”
