As well as receiving £28,000 in tax-free funding, scholars will be awarded IOP membership for their teacher training year; and will benefit from an exclusive celebration event at the beginning of their training; opportunities to attend educational events and trips throughout their training year; access to a network of physics teachers, as well as to the wider physics community; and the chance to contribute to physics education policy.

We recently held a celebration for our 2017/18 scholars and you can read a blog post about the event by our Marketing Executive, Nicole Averiss.

The closing date for the current round is 5 November 2018 and you can apply online. There will also be further application rounds during 2018/19.

The DfE is providing £4.2m to fund our current round of scholarships. Our Head of Education, Charles Tracy, said: “The Government’s continued commitment to the scholarships is recognition of both the depth of the problem and the momentum that our successful scheme has gathered, with 842 teaching scholarships awarded over the past seven years.

“We look forward to welcoming another round of scholars to our teacher community and helping them to become some of England’s very best, most inspirational teachers.”
