Michael Green receives the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics
17 December 2013
The Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for 2014 has been awarded to Prof. Michael Green, Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, and Prof. John H. Schwarz, Harold Brown Professor of Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology.
Each receives $1.5m dollars as their share of the prize, which was given for “opening new perspectives on quantum gravity and the unification of forces”.
The prize recognises transformative achievements in the field of fundamental physics, with a special focus on recent developments. Prof. Green, an honorary fellow of the IOP, received the Institute’s Dirac Medal in 2004.
