Stargazing with Goats

Children from a local school at the International Festival of Light

Please note this is an in-person event.

There are around 150 Kashmiri goats roaming the open space of the Great Orme headland and on a clear night they have an amazing view of the starry skies above Llandudno.

Sadly we won't have time to join them on the Great Orme, but you are very welcome to join the teacher team of the Institute of Physics (IoP) Wales and also Dani Robertson, the Dark Sky Officer for the Prosiect Nos Partnership (between Snowdonia National Park, the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley, Anglesey and Pen Llŷn Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty) for an in-person event.

Suitable for educators, adults, families and community groups.

  • 6pm to 7pm An opportunity to find out about stars and planets, and our place in the Universe with Dr Lawrence Cattermole, pitched at a level for all ages (suitable for young folk).
  • 7pm to 8pm Dani Robertson, who will present a talk on how the stars of our Night Sky are strongly entwined with our Celtic Heritage (pitched more at the less young folk).
  • Plus, "Design and launch a Space Rocket" or create a "Glow in the Dark Constellation" (for all ages).

This is an event run by the Institute of Physics Wales. Enquiries to [email protected]

To join us on the night you will need to register for a free ticket. If you wish to see both talks please register for both.
