Quantum Workshop Coventry: Many-body systems, non-equilibrium dynamics and quantum computing

Atomic and molecular image
The "Quantum Workshop Coventry" aims to foster exchanges between leading UK academics in quantum computing and statistical mechanics and relevant industry partners.

Quantum computing has emerged as a transformative technology with potential to revolutionize problem-solving across disciplines and in various industry applications. The future impact of quantum computing can hardly be overestimated, and the UK government has recently acknowledged this prospect by backing the quantum computing sector, expecting quantum computing to open up economic opportunities and to lead to productivity gains from quantum computing – resulting in new jobs, skills and knowledge across the UK (National Quantum Strategy 2030).

Recent advances in realizing quantum devices with thousands of qubits highlight the need for a better understanding of collective effects in modern quantum hardware. Statistical mechanics is thus essential for exploring and optimizing the performance of quantum devices. Our workshop will create a platform for statistical physicists, quantum scientists and industry leaders to exchange and discuss future directions of quantum R&D.
