The lure of Mars

Speaker: Dr Stuart Clark

In this talk, Stuart will discuss the special place that Mars has held for humankind over the ages. Simultaneously so similar and yet so different from the Earth, Mars has always been a focus of attention for human beings. As well as describing the latest science and plans for exploration, Stuart will also look at the diffusion of scientific ideas about Mars through the literature of science fiction, as a further illustration of our enduring fascination with the red planet.
