Back To The Past! How ancient nanomaterials can design the present

Speaker: Silvia Orlanducci, University of Rome, Tor Vergata
Nanomaterials have been used by humankind for centuries, often without full understanding and appreciation of their fascinating properties. Ancient civilisations, for example, unknowingly utilised nanotechnology to achieve remarkable effects in artwork, make artefacts, prepare cosmetics and develop drugs. Join Silvia Orlanducci, as we showcase how modern science continues to learn from the past and how ‘historical’ uses are being adopted to deliver futuristic cross-field advances and applications.
