Professional Development for Teachers

  • Subject Knowledge Enhancement courses for existing teachers
A number of initial teacher training providers across the country will be providing Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses for existing teachers that are returning to work or need to improve or update their subject knowledge
  • Anthony Waterhouse Fellowship
If you are a practising teacher, and you have an idea about physics teaching that you have always wanted to develop, then the Anthony Waterhouse Fellowship can help you bring the idea to fruition
  • Supporting Teachers to become Chartered Physicists
Specialist teachers of physics, and those who support them, can be professionally registered as Chartered Physicists if they meet the requirements. The Institute of Physics is the only body with a Royal Charter to award CPhys, which recognises the professional status of those who use physics in their careers. The standards expected and application procedure are the same as for any other physicist, but you can receive role-specific supporting materials. These have been designed to give examples of relevant experience from teaching and coaching contexts. Email for more information.
