The Plasma Physics Group makes an award of £50 to the student presenting the best poster presented at the Plasma Physics Group annual conference.
The judging of the best poster is usually conducted by no less than two eminent scientists. During the poster session, each poster is visited in turn. Generally the judges will be looking for the following:
- Good balance between text and figures
- Considered use of the scientific method
- Strong theme running through the poster leading to firm conclusions
The judges will normally assess the poster independently and will ask each candidate for a brief description of the work undertaken with an emphasis on the key points. Questions will be posed by the judges to clarify issues and examine broader context of the research.
In the event of closely matched candidates a further viva voca type session will ensue. The final decision of the judges will be announced at the Annual Dinner.
