This is the outreach resources page for the Plasma Physics Group. Here you will find links to webpages, which contain useful outreach information, events and potential speakers, as well as resources for speakers. Please let us know if there is anything else, regarding outreach, which you would like to see within these pages including reports and adverts of outreach events and activities.

British Science Association

We are the UK's nationwide, open membership organisation, which provides opportunities for people of all ages to learn about, discuss and challenge the sciences and their implications."

An informative and up-to-date hub for resources on science communication, where you can sign up as a member, explore opportunities and keep in touch with national science communication and outreach events.

Cafe Scientifique

"Cafe Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology."

These events, which happen all over the country, are a great way to communicate your science to a friendly public audience. Find out where your local cafe scientifique is hosted and see if it's the communication opportunity for you.


"This is an X-Factor-style competition. Students talk to scientists online for 2 weeks and vote for their favourite scientist, in a nail-biting science show down."

This popular and rewarding online science outreach activity has gained a lot of ground over the last 2 years. It offers a unique platform to engage with young students on a range of science subjects without even having to leave your computer. There are currently at least two cycles of the competition per year, with the winner of each zone awarded £500 to spend on a communication based project of their choice.

"STEMNET creates opportunities to inspire young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)."

A programme that aims to bring scientists and young people together in the classroom. Sign up as a STEM ambassador by following the 'Ambassadors' tab at the top of the page, where you can also find information about your local area contact and how to obtain a free CRB check to carry out ambassador activities.

Warwick Plasma Calculator

This is an ongoing project to develop and maintain interactive web-based tools that appeal both to students for educational purposes as well as to scientists who wish to make a quick calculation in support of their research. Everyone is welcome to use these tools but Warwick University do ask that when you use their material in publications or presentations that you acknowledge them by mentioning the Warwick Plasma Calculator and their website.
