IOP Business Forum North West
5 July 2012
The economy of the north west of England is built on the successes of science-based business, but how can this be preserved and built on in the future?
The IOP Business Forum met at the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus on the 3rd of June to discuss this question.
The meeting was chaired by Norman Apsley, CEO of the Northern Ireland Science Park, and the attendees heard from Peter Nears of Peel Holdings and the Merseyside Partnership LEP, Jonathan Smith of Tech-X UK Ltd and Louise Butcher, the IOP regional officer in the region.
The three each gave perspectives on what the future holds for physics-based business in the UK, and what role companies, the government and the IOP itself can play in creating the best possible environment for success.
A wide-ranging discussion, held under the Chatham House Rule, followed with representatives of physics-based companies in all sectors of the economy. Full notes from the event can be seen on the event’s page.
