Access to Finance, Technology Strategy Board
Nigel is responsible for Access to Finance at the Technology Strategy Board, where he heads the organisation’s support for innovative SMEs in gaining access to business support and private sector funding to accelerate the journey from concept to commercialisation.
Nigel has a background in the financial services industry, having spent over 10 years at both Deutsche Bank and GE Capital in roles covering export and project finance, M&A and privatisation advice and raising finance for growth companies internationally. At GE, he established the European ‘Access GE’ programme, advising, coaching and mentoring management teams of businesses owned by VC and private equity firms on operational excellence, acquisition integration, strategy development and leadership.
Nigel is a graduate of Queens’ College, Cambridge and qualified as an accountant with Ernst & Whinney.
International Business Officer, London Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is London’s premier business support and networking organisation with a membership of 2,500 organisations, both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large corporations. LCCI provides business information, advice, representation and international trade support.
As International Business Officer, Blazej assists with the implementation of the Enterprise Europe Network project operated by the European Commission, which aims to support SMEs in all aspects of internationalisation, access EU funding for R&D projects and transfer innovation.
Having followed a MA course in European Union Studies, Blazej graduated from Leiden University in the Netherlands and joined the International Business team at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Dr Stuart Eves
Lead Mission Concepts Engineer, Surrey Satellite Technology Limited
Stuart is Lead Mission Concepts Engineer, or “ideas guy”, at Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) in Guildford, an independent British company within the Astrium group.
The highlight of Stuart’s career to date was the initiation of the TopSat (Tactical Optical Satellite) imaging satellite programme, which established a new world record for “resolution per mass of satellite”. Indeed, the mission was so successful that the engineering model of the satellite now forms part of the space gallery at the Science Museum in London.
Stuart has an MSc in Astrophysics, a PhD in constellation design, and has been a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society for more than 20 years.
