IOP responds to Schools White Paper
28 March 2022
Test of the white paper is whether it contains a serious and workable plan for recruiting missing teachers.
Commenting today on the publication of the government’s Schools White Paper, IOP director of science, innovation and skills, Louis Barson, said: “If the government is serious about levelling up our economy this white paper needs to tackle the national shortage of teachers.
“They must put this right, including recruiting the 4,000 physics teachers needed to provide children from disadvantaged backgrounds with a route into well-paid, rewarding work.”
More detailed analysis of the proposals will follow.
