IOP Limit Less campaign sponsors Governors for Schools Conference

30 March 2023

Reaching school governors and trustees with the Limit Less message is a key campaign goal, says Deputy Chief Executive Rachel Youngman.

As Limit Less Inclusive Schools Month draws to a close, the IOP is delighted to announce sponsorship of this year’s Governors for Schools Conference.

The digital conference takes place during National Inclusion Week from 26-27 September 2023 and is free and open to all. Aimed at all those involved in school governance, it offers panel sessions from a range of experts and will have a particular focus on whole-school approaches to inclusion.

Responding to the announcement, Rachel Youngman, Deputy Chief Executive of the IOP, said: “Removing barriers to young people’s progression in physics is what the Limit Less campaign is all about, and we know how critical taking a whole-school approach to inclusion and equity is. School governors and trustees play a vital role in championing this agenda and collaboratively holding schools to account for their plans and impact.

“We want to see boards have a nominated individual responsible for whole-school equity, and we need that message to reach as many governors as possible. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with Governors for Schools for their conference this year, kicking off a year of activity focused on championing inclusion in schools.”

Hannah Stolton, Chief Executive of Governors for Schools, said: “I’m delighted that the Limit Less campaign is the confirmed sponsor for the Governors for Schools Conference 2023. As an independent charity that receives no government funding, we depend on the generosity of supporters such as the IOP to fund our mission. With the IOP by our side, we’re looking forward to an exciting two days of dynamic presentations and discussions.

“The conference will also launch Governors for Schools’ ‘Year of Inclusion’, a year-long campaign focused on enhancing governor knowledge and efficacy in matters relating to inclusion. We’re delighted the IOP will be joining us as we launch this important campaign at our 2023 conference.”
