100th anniversary of the IOP

2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the Institute of Physics.

Throughout our anniversary year, we celebrated the role of physics and physicists in the UK and Ireland over the past 100 years. We also highlighted their importance in today's society and their immense potential for the future.

As part of our anniversary celebrations we made a short film that looks back at some of the key achievements made in the world of physics over the past 100 years in the context of wider global events. We also took a brief look at what the future might hold for physics.
