100th anniversary of the IOP
2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the Institute of Physics.
Throughout our anniversary year, we are celebrating the role of physics and physicists in the UK and Ireland over the past 100 years. We are also highlighting their importance in today's society and their immense potential for the future.
From championing the increasing diversity of physics to addressing its role in solving some of society’s biggest challenges, we invite you to join us in celebrating our centenary.
There will be events and initiatives across the UK and Ireland to celebrate the past, recognise the present and look to the future of physics and physicists in the UK and Ireland.
As part of our anniversary celebrations we’ve made a short film that looks back at some of the key achievements made in the world of physics over the past 100 years in the context of wider global events. We also take a brief look at what the future might hold for physics.
