General Trustee: Paula Knee CPhys MInstP

Paula is a Partner at Technopolis Group, a specialist consultancy in science, research and development (R&D) and innovation policy and its role in economic growth and wellbeing.

She regularly conducts studies and evaluations of policy and investments in quantum technologies, space, civil nuclear, geoscience, energy technologies, research infrastructures, technical standards and small and medium-sized business support. 

She has worked for organisations such as the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (and its predecessors), the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Innovate UK, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the UK Space Agency, the European Space Agency, the European Commission and the World Bank.

Earlier in her early career she was a research scientist in colour measurement and knowledge transfer manager at the National Physical Laboratory and an R&D scientist at a medical technology spin-out from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, based close to Silicon Valley.

She has a BSc in physics and an MSc in applied optics from Imperial College London, plus an MSc in technology and innovation management from the Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex.
