The Franklin medal and prize
In 2008 Council decided to establish the Franklin medal and prize.
Rosalind Franklin was an outstanding x-ray crystallographer, who made an important contribution to the understanding of the structure of DNA
The award is made biennially in even dated years.
The award shall be made for distinguished research in physics applied to the life sciences including medical and biological physics. The medal will be accompanied by a prize of £1000 and a certificate.
