Honorary Fellows: Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov
University of Manchester
Professor Novoselov has a remarkable scientific record. A hallmark of his work is exceptional experimental ability in condensed matter physics for which he has produced many key results in mesoscopic superconductivity, sub-atomic movements of magnetic domain walls and “Gecko” tape.
In 2004 together with Prof. Geim he extracted graphene – a single atomic layer of carbon – from graphite and then measured the many remarkable physical properties of this material. For the work on graphene, Profs. Novoselov and Geim were awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics.
