Join the inaugural Physics Inclusion Award Assessment Panel

Would you like to support the IOP in developing its work to promote diversity and inclusion in physics? 


We are seeking up to 13 new members for the inaugural Physics Inclusion Award Assessment Panel.

Diversity and inclusion run throughout the IOP’s ambitious strategy, Physics for our Future. To deliver on the huge potential of physics to benefit our society, we must have a thriving physics community where everyone, whoever they are and wherever they come from, is welcomed and supported.

About the panel

The Physics Inclusion Award Panel is responsible for peer assessing Physics Inclusion Award applications and providing feedback. The panel is led by the chair and will work alongside the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Programme Manager and the EDI team to deliver an effective process for the assessment which aligns with the strategy and governance of the IOP.

Who should apply

We invite applications from physicists based in both academia and industry and will seek to appoint a panel representing of a variety of lived experiences and identities including, but not limited to, different racial and ethnic backgrounds, genders, age groups, disabilities and LGBT+ identities.

To ensure all regions are represented, we particularly welcome applications from physicists based in institutions in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

You do not need to be an IOP member to apply, but some familiarity with the IOP and its work would be beneficial to the role.

Applications close at 23.59 on Sunday 8 December 2024.

Applicants should be notified of the outcome by Friday 20 December 2024. Panel training will be in January 2025 and the first panel meeting in March 2025.

These are voluntary positions, but the IOP covers all reasonable expenses to ensure cost is not a barrier for anyone to take part.
