Follow-up Study of the Finances of Chemistry and Physics Departments in UK Universities

This is a follow-up study to individual studies undertaken between 2004 and 2006 of the finances of a sample of chemistry departments in UK universities for the Royal Society of Chemistry and of the finances of a sample of physics departments in English universities for the Institute of Physics.

The data collected included cost drivers (student load, staff [full-time equivalents – FTE] and space); teaching and research income by source; budgetary approach and data; and the Transparent Approach to Costing (TRAC) data and data on the allocation of academic staff time.
