The Athena Survey of Science, Engineering and Technology (ASSET) was first undertaken in 2003/4 and repeated in 2006.
It explores differences in the career progression, expectations and experiences of male and female scientists and creates a baseline of data against which to measure future progress. The survey is being repeated across UK STEMM departments in 2010. It is supported by The Royal Society, led by Imperial College and funded by HEFCE.
Where the number of respondents is high enough to protect confidentiality; feedback will be provided to participating universities, faculties and departments. The national data will be available on www.athenasurvey.org.uk. Both national and individual feedback will cover key issues such as progression, representation, career transition points and career development.
The survey goes live on 19 January 2010 for 6 weeks. For more information about participation in this survey and findings from previous years please visit www.athenasurvey.org.uk.
