The inaugural list, published by the Telegraph to coincide with the third National Women in Engineering Day (23 June), also included IOP fellow Professor Lynn Gladden, Shell Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge, and IOP members Professor Eleanor Stride, Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, and Dr Debbie Smith, managing director of BRE Global.

The campaign received a high number of nominations for the list and entries were judged by a five-strong panel, with the names being announced at a breakfast launch on 23 June.
