Six outstanding teachers have been chosen to receive Teachers of Physics awards from the IOP. These will be presented at the Institute’s Awards Dinner on 15 October.

The three awards to teachers in England were made on the basis of their achievement in promoting the progression of pupils to A-level physics or the progression of girls to A-level physics, or for achieving outstanding attainment of pupils in A-level physics.

The awards to a teacher in Scotland, a teacher in Wales and a teacher in Northern Ireland were each made through nomination and recommendation by colleagues. All of the awardees were praised for their excellent and inspirational teaching and their dedication to their pupils and the profession.

The IOP’s teacher support manager, Chris Shepherd, said: “Each award winner has an outstanding reputation within their own community, and has affected the lives of their pupils in a positive and lasting way. We are delighted to extend that recognition and honour to these exceptional physics teachers.”
