Following the announcement of David Willetts’ resignation from his ministerial post, the Institute of Physics (IOP) has issued a short statement to express thanks to the former Minister for Science and Universities.
Professor Paul Hardaker, Chief Executive of the IOP, said, “David Willetts has been an outstanding Science Minister and is widely respected for the dedication he’s shown to UK science and engineering.
“He has engaged effectively with the community throughout his time in office and worked hard to place research and innovation at the heart of a recovery built on a world-leading knowledge economy.
“I know we will very much miss him and all he has brought to the role, and I hope science continues to benefit from his energy and abilities.”
