I studied for a BSc in Theoretical Physics at the University of York and for a PGCE at Aberystwyth University. After a few years teaching in schools in West Wales I moved to Ysgol John Bright in Llandudno where I have taught since 2000. I have been the mentor for Science Trainee Teachers since 2002, and have been Assistant Head of Faculty (in charge of KS3) and whole school Numeracy Coordinator. I recently gained a Master’s degree in Education from Bangor University, with research into the use of Numeracy in Science.

Professional interest
I am interested in the use of Mathematics within Physics, and worked on the ASE project on the Language of Mathematics in Science. I am also interested in how children learn and build scientific models, and in developing activities that are based on research into this area. I have also worked extensively with PGCE students from Bangor University and I also have links with the Society for Radiological Protection education group.
