South Scotland

Brian Redman

I resigned my post as Head of Science in Selkirk High School a few years ago with the intention of winding down my physics commitment to spend more time travelling with my wife, gardening and sailing. I’m now on my third retirement, having taken on two extended periods of classroom teaching, the last of which only recently ended. As well as working with the IOP since the Teacher Network was started, my career has involved me in a number of roles within the national examination system as a marker, examiner and setter at different levels. Although I have now given up classroom teaching, I continue to work with teachers and to present workshops on several topics to both primary and secondary teachers throughout Scotland, occasionally making forays to present further afield.

Link with other agencies
I work closely with other agencies such as SSERC, ASE and the Edina Trust to improve Scottish Physics teaching at all levels.
