Current Position
I am now working as a Physics teacher at the Royal Latin School in Buckingham. As part of the teaching and learning team I also deliver whole school CPD and mentor PGCE and GTP students as well as NQTs.
Career
After a Physics degree at Imperial College, and five years of research into integrated optical devices, resulting in a PhD, I spent a number of years working for RM. Following some time at home with my three children I trained as a Physics teacher under the GTP scheme at a Milton Keynes comprehensive. During four years at another MK comprehensive, I became Head of Physics and then Head of Science.
Aim/Mission
I am now in the fortunate position of working as part of a team of experienced Physics teachers, but believe that it is essential to support non-specialists and those Physics teachers who do not have Physicists amongst their colleagues. In order to do this, I will be offering twilight training sessions in Bucks which I hope will also be of interest to experienced Physics teachers.
One of the many delights of teaching Physics is coming up with a new demonstration or activity which enables more students to understand a concept. The opportunity to share these ideas and to enhance each others’ teaching is something else that I would like to explore.
Personal Interests
Outside a busy working and family life, I am learning to play the piano.
