Schools Outreach Support Network (SOSN)
The Schools Outreach Support Network is a community of outreach and schools liaison officers who want to build effective and sustainable links with their local schools and colleges. The Institute and the National HE STEM programme support the Network by administering an email discussion list and organising twice yearly meetings.

SOSN discussion list
The list is open to everyone who wants to have strong outreach links with their local schools and colleges, and is of particular interest to outreach and schools liaison officers from university physics departments and national research laboratories.

Posts to the list are welcome from all and include

  • Institute funding opportunities for universities carrying out schools outreach activities
  • Details of resources published by the Institute for use at open day events such as career leaflets and posters
  • Upcoming meetings and events to support outreach officers
  • List members sharing experiences and asking for advice

To subscribe, visit the SOSN web interface where you can also browse through the archive of past messages.

By subscribing to this email discussion list you are agreeing to the Institute's terms and conditions. Please read these carefully before subscribing.

If you experience a problem subscribing to this list then email physics.society@iop.org with the subject heading ‘SOSN Issue’, giving as much detail as you can about issue you are having.

SOSN meetings
Meetings of the Network are held twice a year and the agendas are set in discussion with SOSN members.  Meetings are by invitation only and are designed to support the work of outreach and schools liaison officers from university physics departments and national research laboratories.
