Teaching Taster
The Open University is offering physics students the opportunity to participate in the Student Associates Scheme. The scheme is funded by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA), and gives current higher education students a firsthand experience of teaching their subject in a secondary school anywhere in England. The 15-day placement can assist students in deciding if a teaching career is for them, and which level they may like to teach. On successful completion of the scheme, students are paid a tax-free bursary of £600.
Equally as important, pupils in the placement schools benefit through engagement with higher education students. The students work with mentors to help raise pupils' awareness, and are able to;
