London Physics Quiz Night 2009

Quiz

For the second time a quiz competition for the London universities was held at Imperial College London on Tuesday 10 March, with teams from Imperial College, King's College, Royal Holloway and UCL participating, as well as a staff team made up of lecturers from the different universities.

Each team was made up of students from across the undergraduate years and the quiz contained both physics and general knowledge questions, including picture rounds. With some really tricky questions included, all teams did very well indeed. The audience of around 60-70 supporters all tried the quiz as well and there was an audience prize in the form of a remote control helicopter.

After the main eight rounds, the top two teams, King's and UCL, went into the final head-to-head with UCL eventually winning the quiz with 47 to 41 points, and taking over from last year's winners Imperial, who took third place.

Many thanks to Ruth Newrick and the Imperial Physics Society for organising this splendid event and Dr Tim Horbury for hosting the quiz on the night.
