Call for nominations for the 2017 Jocelyn Bell Burnell Medal and Prize

20 December 2016

The IOP Women in Physics group prize, known as the Very Early Career Female Physicist award, has been presented annually since 2007 by the group.

The names of previous winners can be found here.

In 2016, the award was renamed the Jocelyn Bell Burnell Medal and Prize and is now awarded alongside the main IOP awards. This change means that the call for nominations for the 2017 prize is now much earlier, in fact, it is already open now and will remain so until 31st January 2017.

As before the prize will be awarded to a very early career female physicist who has made a substantial contribution to the subject and has undertaken activities to support and encourage others in the field. Those wishing to be nominated for the prize must nominate themselves via the IOP website. Further details about the award, including the eligibility criteria, can also be found there. All eligible applications received will be judged, as in previous years, by members of the Women in Physics group advisory panel.

We very much look forward to receiving your applications.
