Plasma displays are bringing about a revolution in television viewing - by replacing the bulky cathode ray tube televisons can not only be made flatter but also large as spherical effects are negated with flat screen technology. This combination of features provides the perfect solution to home cinema. Key to the success of plasma screens is 'plasmavision'.
Plasmavision is an array of cells, known as pixels, which are composed of three subpixels, corresponding to the colors red, green and blue. Gas in a plasma state is used to react with phosphors in each subpixel to produce coloured light (red, green or blue). Each subpixel is individually controlled by advanced electronics to produce over 16 million different colors. This means that you get perfect, easily viewable images in a display that is 3.3 inches thin.
