Date: 7 February 2007, 11.00 – 16.30
Venue: Department of Physics, Durham University
Introduction
The last few years have seen a number of changes in postgraduate research degree programmes with the growing importance of research training and a raising of expectations through the QAA’s revised Code of Practice for Research degree programmes. While the length of PhDs in Physics is increasing with the Research Councils funding longer studentships, we are expecting our research students to undertake more teaching duties to ease the burden of increased undergraduate numbers. This meeting will bring together a number of stakeholders and practitioners in research student education to exchange views on the postgraduate experience.
