Biography

Eur. Ing. John Griffiths BSc, CEng, FIChemE, FEInst, has more than 44 years experience in syngas production, treatment and use. He is responsible for the promotion and application of new energy conversion technologies in the Jacobs Consultancy. For the first ten years of his career, he was involved in all aspects of the pre-commissioning and commissioning of process plant employed to generate, treat and use synthesis gas (“syngas”) in the Town Gas, Refinery, Fertiliser and Power industries.

He led the teams who did the conceptual engineering for two of the Italian Refinery IGCC Projects at ISAB (512 MW) and Sarlux (551 MW) and currently co-leads the Project Management Consultant Team for the development of the 900 MW UK Hatfield Coal IGCC Project.

He is a member of the UK Government Advisory Committee on Carbon Abatement Technologies, and Chairman of the Eighth European Gasification Conference to be held in Antwerp in September 2007.
