Current Position
Deputy Headteacher, Hardenhuish School, Chippenham – but I still teach quite a lot of physics!
Initial Training
BSc Physics Imperial College, London
PGCE Chelsea College, London
MEd Westminster College, Oxford
Career
I have been teaching for over 30 years, and have been at my present school for 20 years, moving from Head of Science. I have been an examiner for A level Physics for Nuffield and SHAP. I am attached to the van der graaf generator for Science week in the photo!
Personal Interests
I have horses and a season ticket to Bath Rugby. In addition I would list my first interest as Physics – I love talking about things and tend to see physics in everything – much to the amusement of friends and students.
Aim/Mission
Getting people to see that understanding why things are the way they are is such fun and that they can do it with a little bit of thinking. Many people have said that they didn’t like Physics when they were at school, and my response is always ‘Well you weren’t taught by me’ – this has worked so far! I love using models, mostly kinaesthetic ones to help students visualise concepts.
