Current Position
Schools Liaison Officer, The School of Physics & Astronomy, The University of Birmingham.

Initial Training
BSc (Hons) Physics, PGCE, Liverpool University.

Career
My current work involves organising all school-linked activities in the School of Physics & Astronomy at Birmingham, as well as going into schools to talk about/demonstrate how interesting and far reaching Physics really is. For the twenty or so years prior to this, I taught Physics and related subjects in schools and colleges in the Midlands area.

Links with other Agencies
I have good links with many schools in the area as well as good working relationships with Widening Participation, Villiers Park, Create a Future and other agencies helping to support Physics teachers and students in the classroom.

Personal Interests
I am married to a Physics graduate who works in the production/logistics industry and have two grown up sons - one a mechanical engineer and one a Physics graduate from Bath. I must be having an influence somewhere!

Aim/Mission
To develop support mechanisms and activities for teachers of Physics in the West Midlands to enable them to better share ideas with each other and develop in their students a real and lasting enthusiasm for the subject – for the fascination it can be in class and the doors it can open in future careers.
