Current Position
I have been Head of Science at TWGSB since April 2008, having been Head of Physics at Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School for the previous 5 ½ years. I have also worked in Client Relationship Management within a Finance environment and taught in Independent Boys and mixed comprehensive schools previously.

Aims
I want to see teachers confidently enjoying their Physics teaching. I believe that if the teacher enjoys and understands the subject, so will the students.

Personal interests
I play guitar (not very well, though!). I enjoy mentoring other teachers.

Events

 Telescopes

  • The setting up of the school telescope plus additional scopes belonging to staff and pupils (feel free to bring a telescope and we can show you how to set it up effectively)
  • Observation of the Moon and Mars as well as a number of deep sky objects such as the Orion Nebula (weather permitting.)
  • A presentation about the latest science taking place on the planet Mars given by Greg Smye-Rumsby from The Royal Observatory, Greenwich and Astronomy Now Magazine
  • Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about astronomy – questions and answers

The evening will still take place if the weather is bad, but the observations will be replaced with a discussion about telescopes – how they work, and how they have developed through history. Observations will then take place on another evening.

See the education events calendar for further details.
