Current Position
Head of Physics, Robert Gordon's College, Aberdeen.

Initial Training
University of St Andrews (1983) and Dundee College of Education (1984). I have recently completed an MBA in Educational Management by distance learning from the University of Leicester. My dissertation was on the funding of physics education in Scotland and the decision-making processes used in schools to allocate resources to physics departments.

Career
I taught at Kinross High School, Peterhead Academy and Alford Academy before moving to Robert Gordon's College in 1996.

Links with other Agencies
I have been an active member of the Association for Science Education (ASE) throughout my career and have been Scottish Chair and the Scottish Representative on the ASE UK Council. In 2003-2004 I was ASE Scotland Chair-elect and edited the ASE Scotland newsletter, Scottish Science Issues. I have also been widely involved in curriculum development and assessment having been a member of the Higher Still Development Unit Specialist Group for Physics. I have been a member of the SEB/SQA Physics Panel since 1994 and Convenor since 1999.

Personal Interests
Despite a life busy in science education I have time to enjoy some other activities including an extensive music collection and following motor and motorcycle sport.

Aim/Mission
I would like to provide effective support and co-ordination to encourage quality physics education throughout Grampian and the Northern Isles.
