Nearly one in five of the working age population is disabled. A disability is a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect upon someone’s ability to carry-out normal day-to-day activities – the definition is wide-reaching and covers illnesses such as mental health problems to dyslexia.
The Institute is working on a disability code of good practice to support university physics departments in this area. The aim of the guidance is to provide advice, recommend guidelines and list resources that can help both staff and students.
