Seamus Hegarty

Seamus Hegarty graduated from the University of Aston in 1981 with a combined honours degree in physics and french. After a postgraduate diploma in technical translation at the University of Kent, he joined the information service of the National Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Bedfordshire for three years.
In 1985 he went to CERN to work in its publication service. After completing an MBA with the Open University, he moved into the human resources department. There he is working on the HR administration of the European Commission’s Marie Curie Action in which CERN is involved, with the specific aim of attracting young researchers to CERN’s projects and promoting research as a future career area for young graduates and early-stage researchers in a range of topics covering physics and engineering.

Emma Ford

Emma Ford is a freelance consultant specialising in career and performance coaching, employability skills, and selection tools and processes.
Her career before becoming a consultant was with BP, managing its selection tools and processes for interns and graduates in the UK and Europe. She shared best practice with many different countries, helping them to define and build selection processes, and she found trips to Egypt and Iran both enjoyable and fascinating.
Previous to this she managed BP’s educational programmes in the UK and social investment projects in London.
Emma works with organisations on employability skills and career development for students. She coaches people who are looking to enhance or change their career and works with organisations to add rigour to or develop their selection processes.
