Job Title: Careers Manager

I manage the Institute’s careers service. My role is to provide careers advice and information to members and to coordinate the careers services offered by the Institute. 

I have been with the Institute for two and half years, in this time, I’ve organised and delivered various careers events from face-to-face careers consultation to careers fairs attended by hundreds of people. My favourite part of my job is face-to-face careers consultation, and it is not because I am nosey! I feel privileged that members are willing to open up to me and discuss matters of importance to them. I enjoy researching and finding alternative career options for people. Presentations are something I like the least, but the more I do them, the better I am at them. I also enjoy up-dating the website (www.iop.org/careers) and working on new initiatives.

The Institute is a nice place to work because there is so much scope for professional and personal development (especially in my role).
