Business Affiliates Network
Benefits of membership
By joining the SME Section of the Business Affiliates Network your firm will gain access to the extensive resources of a learned society and professional body of world-standing, and benefit from the wide range of technical and professional support services such a body can offer.
Access to information
Access to relevant and up-to-date technology and business-related information is of vital importance to all technology-based companies. For many smaller firms, however, the cost of collection and analysis can be very high. The SME section helps companies get the information they need at the lowest possible cost. Membership provides:
- A regular series of Information Updates keeping members fully informed of relevant developments in government policy, support initiatives and other activities. Copies of important reports and papers are distributed free of charge to members.
- Members can use the Members' Room and the new Business Centre at the Institute's headquarters in London, which stocks recent publications and daily newspapers that can be read in comfort and privacy.
- A sign-posting service for Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Networking, business development and finding a voice
The network provides a forum for member companies to network among themselves, with other members of the Institute, and with potential customers, and to act as a focus for sharing and accessing information. Members:
- Are invited to lectures, receptions, lunches and formal dinners, with the opportunity to meet both technical and business contacts.
- Are invited to give their views on a wide range of issues relating to science and business policy, which are taken into consideration in the Institute's formal submissions to Government.
- May join and participate in the activities of their local Institute of Physics Regional Branches.
- May join the Institute's Subject and Professional groups, from IT, Electronics & Comms to Consultancy. Through the Groups, business affiliates can access some of the UK's leading experts in physics and its applications.
