The Festival of Thrift is a large community, art and food festival that takes place in the Teesside area each September.

This year the Institute ran an outreach stall at the Festival this year, which had over 45,000 in attendance. We ran several physics busking activities designed around the idea of being thrifty, including lollypop stick kazoos, water bottle whirlpools and nail balancing tricks. We spoke to people of all ages whilst spreading the message of physics and how people can get involved with the Institute.
