Planetarium Day inspires young interest at Greenacre Academy

16 December 2014

A Planetarium Day with an Astrodome portable planetarium inspired considerable interest in physics among young people in Kent.

Held at Greenacre Academy in Chatham on 4 December, the participants were year 7 boys (11-year-olds). The five showings concluded with a lecture on the arguments for and against the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the Milky Way. The presenter was careful not to come to any conclusion one way or the other, except to warn against taking too much notice of faked photographs.

Plenty of searching questions were subsequently put to him by members of the young audience which showed enquiring and questioning minds not bound by preconceptions.
