A plea to elderly scientists from another one

19-02-2007

I retired some seven years from the post of Reader in the History of Science and Technology in the University of Teesside but I have kept my interest in history and have begun a project to find out what scientists did in industry. I am particularly interested in the years in their careers before management duties seized them. I am also intending to study the experiences of those who worked in R and D, rather than in production or sales or non-technical departments. For the moment I have decided to concentrate on air-to-air missiles and in first case (for a paper to be giving in the summer) I will use the de Havilland missiles Firestreak and Red Top ask examples.

Any scientists who are willing or able to help me with the general or the particular part of my work would, perhaps, e-mail to me at colin.hempstead1@ntlworld.com.
