The Born Medal

The Born medal and prize

The award will be made for outstanding contributions to physics. The award is made in even-dated years to a physicist based in Germany and presented in Britain or Ireland, and in odd-dated years to a physicist based in Britain or Ireland and presented in Germany.

The Holweck Medal

The Holweck medal and prize

(nominations are sought for 2008)

The award will be made for distinguished work in any aspect of physics that is ongoing or has been carried out within the 10 years preceding the award. In selecting the recipient of the award, the primarily experimental interest of Holweck will be borne in mind. Unitl 1974 it was given in even-dated years to a physicist based in France and presented in Britain or Ireland, and in odd-dated years to a physicist based in England or Ireland and presented in France. In 1974 on the occasion of the joint celebration of the centenaries of the two physical societies, two awards were made and subsequently the award is to be made to a physicist based in France in odd-dated years and to a physicist based in Britain or Ireland in even-dated years.

The Massey medal

The Massey medal

(nominations co-ordinated by the Australian Institute of Physics)

The award shall be made for contributions to physics or its applications. Until 1998 the award was made in even dated years by The Institute of Physics and in odd dated years by the Australian Institute of Physics. The award is now made biennially jointly by the Institute of Physics and by The Australian Institute of Physics. The Institute of Physics selects the winner from a list of nominees submitted by the Australian Institute of Physics. Normally the recipient will have, or have had, association with Australia or physics in Australia.
