History
The Division of Atomic, Molecular, Optical and Plasma Physics awarded the David Bates prize between 2000 and 2006 to commemorate Sir David Bates FRS and his pioneering studies of atomic and molecular processes and their role in atmospheric science, plasma physics and astronomy.
Terms
The award was made biannually in even-dated years in recognition of distinguished achievement in atomic, molecular, optical and plasma physics. A prize of £300 was presented and accompanied by a certificate and bronze plaque.
